This Week's TV: Irish rover Ciaran McCarthy returns to Corrie

It's more than four years since womaniser Ciaran McCarthy waltzed out of Weatherfield but now the charmer is back and up to his old tricks.

LONDON, ENGLAND, January 28, 2010 /Television PR News/ -- 'It's all great fun. If a woman walks past Ciaran McCarthy, he usually tries to work his charm on her,' explains Keith Duffy, who plays the Irish rover. Keith tells TV Choice all about his Coronation Street return, and the impact of losing his Boyzone bandmate Stephen Gately last October.

Also in this week's issue, Julie Walters reveals what it was like playing the late MP Mo Mowlam in the drama Mo, while Lost fans may finally get some answers as the US show starts its sixth and final season. Former Lost star Ian Somerhalder stars in some bloodthirsty action in The Vampire Diaries, and sci-fi buffs will welcome Caprica, a prequel to cult series Battlestar Galactica.

Hunky actor Matt Lanter chats about his role as 90210's tough guy Liam, while Family Guy fans will welcome spin-off series The Cleveland Show featuring mild-mannered Cleveland Brown who is now divorced and living away from Quahog.

Meanwhile, David Dimbleby traces Britain's history through art, and the BBC's Being Mum season meets Karen Coleman, whose daughter Megan won't speak to anyone who isn't close family.

In the soaps, there is passion and then suspicion between Ronnie and Jack in EastEnders, and in Coronation Street alcoholic Peter Barlow falls off the wagon. Hannah attacks one of her bullies in Emmerdale, while Immie has a lesbian encounter at college in Doctors. Hannah falls for drug dealer Jamie again when he returns in Hollyoaks, although Rhys and Darren take drastic measures to get rid of him. There is tragedy for Susan in Neighbours, and Hugo is shot in Home And Away.

There's also a family holiday to sunny Tenerife to be won in this week's TV Choice competition.
